Suzuki Grand Vitara Marine

Most giant companies from Japan try to develop their business and make other things besides motorcycles. Yamaha doesn’t make just motorbikes but grand pianos, boats and other things. Honda makes business jets, lawnmowers and others. Suzuki makes cars and boat engines.

Suzuki Grand Vitara Marine Concept is a Concept, as the name suggests, made by a group of young people from Ohio Technical College. They idea was probably inspired by Top Gear and tries to combine the marine engine division and the automotive division from Suzuki. The result is not so good, unfortunately.

The Vehicle is open roof, has big tires, nautical-style radar arch, strange paint job, and a boat engine in the back. Most people will think that this car is amphibious, but we are quite skeptical. Maybe it is, but we must see a demonstration before believing it.

Suzuki Grand Vitara Diesel

The Grand Vitara model had a bit of success and they sold lots of cars around the world, winning some awards in the same time. Their recipe is quite simple, go anywhere with the 4WD ability, good quality/price and good standard equipment.

They have only on diesel engine available for the Suzuki Grand Vitara, the 1.9-litre connected to a five speed manual gearbox. The 1.9 liter engine DDiS develops just 129 hp (95kW) at 3750 rpm and a torque of 300Nm starting from 2000 rpm. Due to the common rail injection and the enhanced fuel economy, the engine consumes around 7.0l/100 km. The standard equipments are quite good and the Prestige version has upgraded audio system and leather seats.

The Interior

The interior of the newest Grand Vitara made a huge leap in quality compared with its predecessors. The interior materials, styles and refinement match the best competition in the segment. You will find leather on the three spoke steering wheel and the hand brake, while the cruise controls are very easy to find and use. The instant fuel consumption bar is another good addition. The new Grand Vitara runs all the time four-wheel-drive, and you can select low-range from the center console.

The audio is quite good, with a single CD and four speaker systems that can be upgraded. Auxiliary iPod and MP3 jack is available.

If you fold the rear seats, you can load up to 1,386 liters, but the total width remains the same as in its predecessors – 1,810mm, which is a drawback.

The Exterior

The Suzuki designers have combined several degrees of sophistication when designing the new Grand Vitara while trying to keep its off-road attributes. Most females won’t be impressed by this muscular appearance, but the men will surely like it.  New front bumpers and a revised grille were also designed.

The latest Grand Vitara is a true 4WD vehicle designed to maximize your off-road experience, so if you want to have a car that can take you to your daily job and off the mountains in the same time, then the new Suzuki Grand Vitara is specially designed for people like you.

Suzuki Grand Vitara

Suzuki Grand Vitara is at the third generation, a generation that debuted in 2005 and the model is based on Theta with which it shares some components. However, there are important changes as well. The suspension was redesigned completely since this car is wider than the Theta car. More importantly, the car has a longitudinally-mounted engine while the previous version had transverse engine, with rear-wheel drive.

The car is available as a 5 door or 3 door versions. The 3 door version is known as “Vitara”, the producer removing the “Grand” brand from the name.

Until 2008 the car had a standard 2.0L gasoline engine with 140hp and an optional V6 engine with 185 hp. A diesel engine was also available: 1.9L and 129hp. Until 2008, the 3 door version had only one engine available: 1.6L 106hp.

In 2008 the Suzuki Grand Vitara got a face lift and two brand new engines were added to the list: 2.4L four cylinders developing 164 hp and 225 Nm torque and the new V6 that produces 221 hp and 284 Nm torque. They also improved the 1.9L turbo-diesel engine and other important parts like the traction control and air-bags. A central lockable differential was also added for the four-wheel drive system.
